The Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE) of the University of Macedonia was established in 1983 and aims at the management and utilization of funds for scientific research, education, training, technological development and innovation, as well as the provision of related services, to achieve its purpose.

The purpose of ELKE is the management and allocation of funds that come from any source, as well as from its own resources and are intended to cover expenses, of any kind, which are necessary for the execution of research projects, education, training, development, as well as projects. ongoing training, seminars and conferences, the provision of scientific, technological and artistic services, the preparation of specific and clinical studies, the performance of tests, measurements, laboratory tests and analyzes, the provision of opinions, the drafting of specifications on behalf of third parties, the development and implementation of research, programs as well as other related services, for the benefit of the A.E.I.

All the above are provided that they are performed by the scientific staff of the University with the assistance of additional experts, for the benefit of the Foundation and in order to contribute to the production of scientific research.

Administration and management bodies of ELKE is:

  1. The Research and Management Committee of ELKE
  2. The Chairman of the Research and Management Committee of ELKE.

The Financial and Administrative Support Unit of ELKE is the competent service for the administrative support and financial management of ELKE.

Τhe Laboratory "Computational Methodologies & Operations Research" (CMOR) of the Department of Applied Informatics, School of Information Sciences, University of Macedonia was established in February 2016 (Government Gazette issue Monday, 302 / 15-2 ).

The Laboratory serves the broader research and educational needs of the Department in the following scientific fields: Optimization and decision making, High performance scientific calculations, Intelligent agents, Cryptography, Machine learning, Statistical theory and applications with emphasis on big data analysis and applications emphasis on computational statistics, Algorithm design and analysis, Planning and scheduling, and Artificial intelligence.

The mission of the "Computational Methodologies and Operations Research" (CMOR Lab) is:

  1. The diffusion of the use of computer methodologies, statistical methods and business research techniques, in order to apply them to real problems.
  2. Any form of extroversion action and cooperation with other academic institutions, institutes and research centers of the country and abroad, with related scientific object and objectives, in a spirit of reciprocity and collective work.
  3. Cooperation with public sector bodies, local authorities, scientific, social and professional bodies, as well as international organizations or organizations in this scientific field, in order to contribute to the joint exploration of solutions and proposals for dealing with contemporary problems that fall in the scientific interests of the Laboratory.
  4. The coverage at undergraduate and postgraduate level (including doctoral research) of the educational and research needs of the Department of Applied Informatics, in matters that are part of the scientific fields of activity of the Laboratory, as defined in article 1 hereof.
  5. The promotion of collectivity and the interdisciplinary approach as a means for the development of research synergies between Professors and researchers with related or complementary scientific fields of specialization.
  6. The utilization of know-how for the attraction of funded research from national and international resources in scientific fields of activity of the Laboratory or individual fields of specialization of its members.
  7. The conduct and promotion of relevant research and studies in the scientific objects of activity of the Laboratory.
  8. The organization of scientific days, lectures, seminars, symposia, conferences and other scientific events, as well as the conclusion of collaborations with internationally recognized scientists in the wider scientific field of Computational Methodologies and Business Research.
